My story
About Kat
Yoga became a meaningful part of my life when I chose sobriety in 2019. What began as a way to support myself through change became a source of healing, connection, and joy, and sparked a desire to learn more and share the practice with others.
That curiosity took me to Bali for my first teacher training in December 2019, and to Costa Rica in 2021 to deepen my studies. Along the way, I’ve explored vinyasa, hatha, yin, restorative, and somatic yoga, as well as various meditation practices. I also became certified to teach Yoga of 12-Step Recovery, leading classes in local studios and at a recovery center. Supporting people in recovery remains close to my heart, and I hope to bring more of this work into future classes and retreats.
My favorite practices bring a little of everything together: grounding meditation and breathwork, deep stretches, balance, a bit of heat and flow, and plenty of time to soften into restorative and yin poses. I encourage students to listen to their bodies, explore a little challenge, and make room for rest. There’s nothing quite like seeing someone leave with that “yoga buzz”: feeling more at ease, pleasantly surprised by what they could do, or simply better than when they arrived.
I teach weekly at Bainbridge Yoga House and Sweet Santosha Yoga, and I love bringing yoga into unexpected places and special moments. From pig yoga supporting a local rescue farm to wedding-morning practices, private women’s retreats, and teaching while traveling in the UK, Spain, and Costa Rica, sharing yoga has brought wonderful connections into my life.
More recently, my friend and co-facilitator, Mindy Tonti, and I have begun hosting retreats of our own. Bringing together my love of traveling the world with my passion for yoga and teaching feels like a dream come true. I love creating space for people to explore, connect, rest, and discover what feels good for them, on and off the mat.
When I’m off the mat, you’ll find me at home on our hobby farm in Kingston, Washington, with my husband, our two Irish wolfhounds, JoJo and Tilly, and our Siberian cat, Misha.
